Book Report 14: Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince
I have to admit, Harry himself has much improved over the previous books. Maybe cause he's older in the book now, but he's not as self centered (although still a bit), not as immature, and not as annoying.
Though Ron and Hermione have now become the typical teenage hormone stricken kids who don't admit what they should admit.
Which made me realize, even adults are this way too. When adults like one another, they won't always communicate it clearly, and will still play games. Even when it's obvious to all around them, they'll do things to make the other jealous, when in reality, if they just communicated their desires, it would go so smoothly.
The author is really talented at conveying that communication is so key and important.
The story though, really starts to develop more and mature. It makes it a difficult book to put down, and the huge cliffhanger at then end (I won't spoil it) leaves you graving more.
The love triangles part of the story are a nice little tough of happiness and reality put into considering the war they're basically in now, with the horrors going on. It shows to me that, in life, even when things are going wrong, we shouldn't forget to be happy and appreciate the enjoyable moments. For example, Harry, at the end of the story where things aren't exactly going well, still gets to enjoy bliss moments with his girlfriend (whom I won't spoil who). Later on, he reminisce and appreciates that time, and it makes one realize that, we truly should live in the present, appreciate those around us, the moments and activities, for they may forever be lost. Time is our most valuable asset, one once passes, is gone for good. The book, in my opinion, does a great job to show that we need to enjoy the good while we combat the bad.
The story of Harry Potter is beginning to come to an end, with Book 7 being the final book. Book 6 really helps set the mood, and pushes you to want to not only finish it quickly, but move on to book 7 immediately.
I highly recommend reading book 6 after you've read 1-5, and it is, so far, my favorite Harry Potter book yet.
