Book Report 11: The Power of Positive Living

This book, when I first read it, I was a bit turned off due to feeling the overly optimistic author was a bit 'too much.' However, the more I read, the more I understood why.

One's mindset is key to a positive lifestyle, positive outlook, and positive life. When we are happy, it's scientifically proven we are smarter. Thus, being depressed, pessimistic, not believing things will work out... will not only make us feel horrible, but will dumb us down to a point where we won't even be able to correct things and make things better.

The author, the esteemed Dr. Peele, goes into depth that we need to believe, have faith, and understand that challenges are truly a part of life. That by accepting the challenges, believing we can conquer them, and creating the steps necessary to handle the issues at hand will help us truly live a more positive life. it's not simply 'believe and you will be happy,' but rather 'believe, so you can have the ability to be happy'

The book goes into revealing real life stories that Dr. Peele has either himself experienced, or his clients/friend etc have experienced. He lists the issues that had arisen, and how they were eventually corrected. Many of them he would refer to faith (mostly to Christianity) and believing, which may make it harder for some to follow, but I feel the main core, if you do not want to call it fate, is the feeling you get in your core. If it doesn't feel right, don't do it. If it feels right, do what you can to do it, whatever 'it' is. What we focus on truly does have a huge affect on our mindset, which will affect our actions, which in turn affect the outcome.

The book is a light read, and can put you in a positive mindset and help you understand and realize that the issues are mostly temporary, and they can only affect you as much as you let them, and that if you understand that pain and suffering can be a catalyst for growth, strength and long term prosperity, you can find the strength to overcome them, whatever they may be.

I do recommend the book, as it can help set you in a better positive mindset to better be able to improve your life and achieve your goals
