UCLA Goes to Jordan!
As an extension of the UAE trip, Professor Gonzalo took us on a cultural trip to Jordan. This was a breathtaking trip. We got to see the old ruins, old parts of the previous civilization, and of course Petra.
It’s also heartbreaking seeing that way some of the people in a third world country are living.
We discussed the issues the country is facing, as well as looking into what ventures we could pursue to help the local population. The discussions with my UCLA classmates was enlightening and I hope to someday return and try to implement some of the ideas we discussed.
This trip also helped me realize how people handle a crisis. We had a covid scare, and the way some acted… showed me they may not be people I’d want to do business with in the future. How one handles or doesn’t handle a personal crisis shows a big part of s/he will be in business.
If I’m unable to trust someone during a crisis we were warned about (covid exposure), Then how would I be able to trust them in a business crisis that can affect a large organization and employees?
This trip was definitely an eye opener.
While many of my UCLA classmates are people whom I would trust to do business with, I learned there are some I wouldn’t be compatible with.
